a mid-sized furniture company with annual sales of 140 billion won has used its dominant position to cancel
its consignment to subcontractors without consultation.
The FTC said Emmons Furniture unilaterally canceled the consignment even though it was not responsible for the subcontracting and imposed a correction order and a fine of 360 million won.
Emmons Furniture was found to have canceled the manufacturing consignment of five apartment
construction sites en masse due to management deficits.
In addition, Emmons Furniture committed wrongful acts, such as not paying a discount for a period exceeding 60 days upon payment of the bill.
The FTC said the incident was an unfair trade practice using its trading position and that it had taken strict measures to correct it.
Meanwhile, Emmons Furniture asked about the incident but did not give any response.
A FTC official said that the company plans to continue to work to prevent disadvantages to subcontractors in the future and establish a fair subcontracting order.
