Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-ju to lose his chairmanship if convicted by March 2025

데일리연합(월간, 한국뉴스신문) 주언 기자 | Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo was handed over to trial for hiring irregularities and was found not guilty in the first trial, but was convicted in the second trial.

If the Supreme Court convicts Chairman Ham Young-joo by March 2025, during his term in office due to employment corruption, Chairman Ham will lose his position as chairman.

In 2015, while serving as Hana Bank president, Chairman Ham Young-joo is accused of ordering the hiring of his acquaintance's son and ordering gender discrimination to "pick more men" before public hiring in 2015 and 2016.

On November 23, 2023, Chief Judge Woo In-sung of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo, who was indicted on charges of hiring irregularities, obstruction of business and violation of the Equal Employment Act, to two years in prison and a fine of 3 million won.

In addition, Chairman Ham Young-joo and former Hana Bank Vice President Jang Ki-yong, accused of obstruction of business, were sentenced to six months in prison and two years of probation in the first trial. Chairman Ham, who was leaving the court after the second trial ruling, expressed his intention to appeal, saying, "There is still a final trial left, so I will talk about it after that.“
